Over 20 years of experience in Remote Sensing, GIS, and Architecting enterprise-level Web-GIS applications.

About H Mohanta

I am a seasoned GIS and Remote Sensing expert with over 20 years of experience in geospatial technology, project management, and innovative mapping solutions. I hold an MPhil in Remote Sensing and GIS Applications from the University of North Bengal (2004) and an Advanced Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing Laws from NALSAR University (2023). Currently, I serve as a GIS expert at LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd., where I am designated as Associate General Manager (GIS).

My primary role involves supporting my organization in the execution and delivery of GIS-based projects at both national and international levels across diverse business verticals, including Planning & Development, Traffic & Transportation, and Water Resources Engineering. In addition to project execution, I engage with government agencies, understanding their requirements, scoping projects, estimating efforts, and ensuring the delivery of optimal solutions in consultation with the practice team.

Throughout my 20+ years of professional experience, I have worked across various domains of RS and GIS applications, including Forestry, Fisheries, Homeland Security, Irrigation, Roads, Urban Development, and Flood Management. Notably, I contributed over six years of expertise as a GIS expert with the Indian Army’s Imagery Interpretation Team (IIT).

I have several published journal papers and articles. My recent publication, “Use of Cartography in Mapping and Treating of Traffic Hazard Spots – A Case Study of Uttarakhand,” was featured in the journal Indian Cartographer (2017) and received the Best Paper Award at the 37th INCA International Congress.
